A trained professional is the best way to ensure your garments fit properly, are comfortable and help ensure the garments do not irritate your skin or incision site.

Your Doctor will advise you as to how soon you should see a fitter after surgery.  Some healing is necessary before garments are fitted.  For a mastectomy the healing time typically runs between 6 and 8 weeks, but be sure to check with your physician before being fitted.

A Certified Mastectomy Fitter is trained to understand which products will work best for each surgery type and how to handle special requirements.

The fitting process will be completely private.  The fitter will first assess the condition of the skin at the mastectomy site to insure there is no drainage or open wounds.  If one of these conditions is present approval from the patient’s doctor will be required.

The Fitter will help you with the shape and drape of the prosthesis as well as the fit.

Once fitted properly the fitter will explain the product warranty and care of the product.

Well made products that are cared for properly should last several years.  However, if  you experience any body changes, adjustments or replacements could come sooner.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me with questions.
